Coron, which is in the archipelago province of Palawan in Western Philippines is known for its natural beauty. We planned to spend two days doing two different boat tours, with Coron Town as the jump off point. We were going to be treated to some lovely beaches and lakes. Because we were successful in finding Whale Sharks in Donsol yesterday, today we had time to do something else, so we decided to move on from Donsol to Lagazpi to check out Mount Mayon, the Philippines’ most active but pretty volcano.

Today we were getting a small taste of Manila, which in my mind was always a bit of a scary (but boring) place. Most tourists never did anything in Manila anyway, but we had some things in mind. Then we were off to Donsol in south-east Luzon, before “hopping” to the next island.

First Meal in The Philippines
A trip to the Philippines was always on the horizon for us with A having lived there a few years during his childhood, and he was keen to revisit. 2025 granted us an easy way to take a block of leave with the Easter public holidays and ANZAC day appearing close together, so it was a bit of a no brainer. It was also whale shark season (more on that later). And it was my birthday again, so time for a trip!
